Kapa Haka

Kapa Haka happens weekly at Solway School. Keepa Smith is our Kapa Haka tutor for the Rangitumau and Tararua teams. We take part in the annual Wairarapa Kapa Haka festival. Niheta Veale and Simona de Vries take Kapa Haka for the Rangituam team.

Te Ao Maori

Karakia celebrating the new day are said each day across teams.
Whakatauki are like proverbs and are said to help us make sense of the world around us. Te reo is taught across the curriculum and is used daily to give instructions and a range of topics including; counting, colours, animals, food, the weather, my pepha etc..
Waiata is a part of the daily programme at Solway. We have some school favourites you can click on the links to listen and sing along to.
