Learning Through Play

Learning through play happens across the Rangitumau team

• All children come together for a morning hui 4 days a week
• After hui children go to their classes for the beginning of the day
• Learning through play happens every day from 9:15-12:30
• Explicit learning groups are taught reading, writing and maths throughout this time with children being called in for these groups
• Children learn in ability and mixed ability groups through these curriculum areas
• After lunch children are in their classes for the afternoon programme which covers; The Arts, Physical Education, Rich Concepts…
• Te Reo is taught explicitly every second week
• Te Reo Maori is integrated throughout the daily programme
• Student agency is happening through learning through play
